Terms
Last updated 28 October 2026
These terms cover vototruck.com and its emails ("VotoTruck", "we"). By using the site, signing in, joining the waitlist or voting, you agree to them. Questions: hello@vototruck.com.
1. Preview: VotoTruck isn't open yet
- Right now VotoTruck is a preview. The streets on the home page are real streets from OpenStreetMap, but the votes and numbers on them are made up to show how it works.
- Nobody can buy anything yet. Tapping Vote, Bundle, Treat, Open a vote or Claim adds you to the waitlist instead.
- A few invited testers can try the full flow in Stripe's test mode. Test mode uses test cards only; no real money moves.
- The "Sample Ice Cream Co." pages are a demo company with sample data, not a real business.
2. How voting works (once open)
- Each vote is a prepaid ice cream from the ice cream company named on the page. Your card is held when you vote, not charged.
- You're charged only when the company confirms the truck for your street. If the street doesn't reach its minimum before the vote ends, or the company declines or doesn't confirm in time, every hold is released and nobody pays.
- If the truck is confirmed and then doesn't come, you're refunded.
- No-show: once the truck is confirmed and comes during the stated time, ice creams that aren't picked up are not refunded.
- Each ice cream comes with a code (VOTO-XXXXXX). Show it to the driver on that street, on that visit. Codes are for that visit only and can be shared with friends and neighbours.
- Prices, minimums, days and times are set by the ice cream company and shown before you vote.
3. The ice cream companies
- The ice cream truck, its driver and its food are the company's, not ours. Each company is responsible for its own licences, permits, vehicle, insurance, food safety and for following local rules on where and when it may sell.
- We run the website that collects votes and payments for the company and tells everyone when the truck is coming.
4. Your account
- You can sign in with an email code, Google or Apple. Keep access to your email safe: anyone who can read it can sign in as you.
- Don't misuse the site: no fake votes, no automated sign-ups, no attempts to break in or overload it. We may block accounts or requests that do.
5. Liability
- The site is provided as it is. We work to keep it running and correct, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of mistakes.
- As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect losses, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to what you paid through VotoTruck for the vote in question. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer protection law.
6. Changes and law
- We may update these terms; the date at the top changes when we do. Big changes are announced on the site before they apply.
- These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
